En stor grupp studier visar korrelation mellan låggradiga bakteriella/virala infektioner hjärtbesvär. Värst är Chlamydia pneumoniae, Cytomegalovirus och Helicobacter pylori. Alla dessa patogener påverkas negativt av mediumlånga fettsyror som finns i kokosolja…med andra ord vissa av dessa studier är inte direkt kopplade till just kokosfett utan till MCFA (Medium chained fatty acids).
